Our new elite team from 2023

We are very happy to announce our new elite team from 2023 onwards. This team is ambitious to join the Women’s World Tour in the very near future.

Over half of the riders of our current U23 development team will be promoted to the elite team. The entire Tour de France Femmes team of Julia Börgstrom, Anya Louw, Gaia Masetti, Lone Meertens, Ilse Pluimers and Ally Wollaston plus Britt Knaven and Maud Rijnbeek will step up. More senior and experienced riders will be announced soon.

This team will be added to our NXTG - Next Generation - project structure to create a complete development path from juniors via U23 to the elite ranks.

My opinion is that having three teams to give young and aspiring cyclists a path to grow from juniors through U23 to Women’s WorldTour level is the example of how it should be done in the women’s peloton. The fact we take over half of our current U23 riders to the elite team is testimony of our vision to grow and develop from the bottom up,” Natascha den Ouden (CEO AG Insurance-NXTG) said.

About NXTG racing

To grow women’s cycling you first need to create a solid foundation. If you build a new house you don’t start with the roof either. The gap between the riders coming straight from junior level to the elite level where they race against the best riders in the world, is huge. There is no U23 category in women’s cycling, no in-between step. That’s where we come into play.

Next to that we aim to create a solid foundation with a talent pool of riders in the U19 and our own development team. We offer all teams a race program that suits them and helps their development. This is how we aim to create a sustainable project which we hope will also inspire other teams to work on the foundations of the sport’s pyramid.
